Hey guys! Do you want to look and feel years younger? And you like to eat, not starve yourself right? David Zinczenko, the editor in chief of Men’s Health magazine and creator of the Abs Diet knows how even YOU can have rock hard abs, bountiful energy, and a healthy nourishing lifestyle forever! His diet lets you eat 6 times a day and you don’t even have to exercise! Wow, I gotta hear more about this…
So you get to eat 6 meals a day huh! The key to the Abs diet is not how much you starve yourself, but what you eat and how often. You need to keep your body energized so it can convert fat to usable energy. There are 12 power foods that David mentions in his book to incorporate into every meal, which include whole wheat, dairy, peanut butter, oatmeal, berries, olive oil, lean meats, and eggs. He also recommends the use of a whey protein powder for supplemental energy snacks.
Ok, so what about the no exercise part? That was not totally accurate if you want to really lose weight and target your belly fat. You need to exercise to help this happen. David recommends moderate exercise, 3 times per week, which isn’t so bad, right guys? The book has examples of exercises you can do to target your abdominal muscles and help burn fat, like crunches with a medicine ball, etc. The book also has recipes and food ideas to help your meal plans stay on track. One example recipe:
Abs Building Smoothie
2 Tbsp peanut butter
1 banana
1/3 c whey protein
1/2 c fat-free chocolate frozen yogurt
1 c fat-free milk
There are lots of other recipes in their book and on their website, foods like shrimp scampi, steak fajitas, baked salmon, black bean dip, and even BBQ beer ribs! Now that sounds more like the one “cheat” meal per week, but it just goes to show that there are lots of food combinations out there that can help us lose weight, maintain our metabolism to burn fat, and eventually get those rock hard abs everyone wishes for each Christmas. So try the Abs diet and see if it works for you!
