Introduction
If you turn on the television, listen to the radio or visit your nearest store you’ll come across an advertisement (either print or broadcast) making an impression (or trying to!!!) on your urge to consume the latest cool deodorant/ antiperspirant by AXE, NIKE (yes, of course… just do it) and so on and so forth by insinuating that it makes the ladies go wild, drool, and shake at the knees when they get a whiff (and the cool in, perhaps) of you.

And that’s how they get you to smell like a pine tree… of course, with variable results when it comes to flooring and scoring a home-run with the ladies!

Of course, I’ve got nothing against deodorants or antiperspirants since my pheromones (and natural confidence) are just enough when it comes to being a player with the ladies. Yet if you do use deodorant to prevent body odor due to hyperhidrosis or just because you don’t want to have someone hide in the janitor’s room when they find you headed in their direction, perhaps due to a lack of attention to body hygiene… then I say: More power to you!

Well, it’s only fair that you know what a deodorant/ antiperspirant is and why you’re using one and everything should be just fine!

So let’s take a closer look at these health products while understanding the pros and cons involved in its daily use.

Antiperspirants vs. Deodorants: The Difference and its Pros and Cons
Simply put the difference between antiperspirants and deodorants are its area of application. Antiperspirants are applied to the under-arm area, while deodorants are applied to other parts of the body.  So it’s pretty obvious that we need them because they’re designed to counter the odor that is produced in different areas of our body. Yet it’s pretty obvious that most of these products in the market are ‘artificial’ in nature which when used consistently has side-effects such as leaving armpit stains, breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease (yes!!?!), respiratory problems as well as being in danger of ‘going up in flames’. The most important hazard is that it blocks the pores from sweating which is a natural body function to maintain salt levels and cool our body.

As weird as some of the hazards are in using these artificial smell-good deos or antiperspirants, it’s true! Not only are they hazardous to health, they also only treat the symptoms and not the actual cause of body odor that is source of our social embarrassment. And this is why doctors suggest deodorants and antiperspirants that are produced naturally.

And let’s find out why…

Antiperspirants vs. Deodorants: The ‘natural’ solution
With natural deodorants, one will avoid all the dangers that the artificial one poses, as the elements of the product do not use toxic components such as alcohol and aluminium while also attacking the issue of body odor at its root cause using ammonium alum as its chief ingredient and natural oils to give out a pleasant aroma. It’s so simple that one can prepare ‘natural’ deodorants at home, but it’s not recommended if you tune when one talks about chemistry or cooking. Haha.

In Closing
If you ask me, natural is the way to go, really. In one way or another, whether it comes to being a player or just smelling good, you’ll have your cake and eat it too. After all, the best things in life come for free…naturally, I mean!
