I had gained about 20 lbs, and wore most of it out front. My stomach was stretched like a basketball, and it was probably the most uncomfortable, embarassing year of my life. I tried doing sit ups/ crunches, and was unable to do them , mainly because my stomach was in the way, and I could not pull myself up. What finally worked for me was to cut out sodas and beer, drinking lots of water, not eating anything after 8PM, and swimming laps. I had been unable to sleep on my stomach for months (without getting seasick), and when I woke up one morning laying face down, and comfortable, I knew I was doing something right. The 'basketball' is finally gone, and has stayed gone for more than a year now....kind of a scary experience that I am glad is over!!!
