Weekly Recap (June 14-21, 2009)

After achieving my 13-day clean-eating goal, I had planned to award myself with one cheat meal last Sunday night.

I “celebrated” with a massive meal that night consisting of an entire basket of nachos and salsa, a massive turkey sandwich on pretzel bread (delicious!) with french fries, a large piece of cheesecake topped with strawberries and whipped cream, and a small pizza.

Yes, it was quite a feast, but it was still much better than my usual all-day binges.

My sister's birthday was the next day, and I almost slipped into another multi-day binge when I decided to eat 3 pieces of pizza and 4 pieces of cake.

Fortunately, I got right back on track and was 100% compliant for the rest of the week, leading to some excellent progress and measurements.

I've been doing a pull-up program for the last 3 weeks, focusing on trying to set a new personal record of 20 chin-ups in one set.

The program is definitely helping, and I've quickly gone from the 8-10 range to around 15, so I'm going to stick it out for another week or two to see if I can pull of the big 2-0.

Since my workouts have been focusing almost exclusively on chin-ups and pull-ups (only a few push-ups and bodyweight squats and lunges mixed in), you can definitely see a correlation in the measurements.

My legs have gotten smaller, while my chest measurement is one of the highest it's ever been, due to the growing back/lat muscles.

This will even out again in a couple of weeks when I return to a more traditional total-body program.

As for now, I'm shooting for another new clean-eating streak of at least 14 days, so even my "cheat" meals will be whole, natural foods.

I'm getting closer to the ideal of being able to keep this up at all times and ditch anything with more than a few ingredients all together!

That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at Geek2Freak.com.

keep it up man! if I had two days like that I would totally just keep going and wouldn't get back to it and lose all my progress. It's tough.
