Contact lenses have not only revolutionized the eye care industry – they have also made exercising a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience. Glasses are almost always inconvenient for sporting and leisure pursuits and if it were not for contacts many "contact" sports would not be possible for people with impaired vision.
It might be obvious but contact sports, such as American football, basketball and rugby would all be impossible to play with glasses. Think about all of the eye injuries that would occur if people would have to wear glasses when tackling an opponent. Many of our greatest sport athletes have contact lenses to thank for much of their career achievements.
If you are into health & fitness and like running you will most likely have a problem with glasses. When running and jumping the glasses can end up slipping off your nose and break. This is not the only problem – when you get warm the glasses will fog up making your vision blurry. It will not only be disturbing, it can also be hazardous when running near traffic or when handling equipment in the gym.
Water sports can be tackled with prescription goggles, but as they are a rather pricey affair, we do once again have to say that contact lenses are the best alternative. Consider buying a pair of regular soft contact lenses, purchase swimming goggles, which only costs a couple of dollars, and all you do is simply wear the contacts underneath these.
Regardless of what type of exercise it is that you practice, soft contact lenses are the best alternative. They are large enough to stay in place and still comfortable to wear. Daily contact lenses are preferred since they are easily replaced if you were to lose a pair while out on the football field or when training to become the next Michael Phelps.
