Weekly Recap (April 12-19, 2009)

I've now been meatless for 5 days, and I don't miss it at all so far. I guess chicken isn't nearly as addicting as carb-rich foods.

In fact, I'm loving not having to cook anything at all, even eating the vegetables raw.

My stats this week were almost identical to the week before last, so I basically just erased last week's binges and weight gain, which is a perfect starting point for my first full raw veggies, nuts, and fruit week.

I've got all the foods that I'll be eating, but it will probably take some tweaking with the exact amounts and ratios over this next week or two.

Like I said, I plan to stick to this for at least a month to find out if I can really maintain and build muscle without any meat at all.

I'm still doing the "Eat Stop Eat" fasts once a week too, and today's will start in a couple of hours right after my first meal.

I'm getting about 110-130 grams of protein per day on the current plan, which is right in line with the upper ranges from Brad Pilon's excellent new book, "How Much Protein?."

This should be an interesting experiment, and I'm excited to see the results!

That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at Geek2Freak.com.

Are there any other vegetarians/fitness enthusiasts out there? If so, let me know what the transition was like for you…
