FitBuff Member Question: "I've seen a lot of…"

Question from FitBuff member:
I've seen a lot of people saying that to LOSE wait you should eat more meals per day to keep your metabolism going but if I'm trying to add some muscle will this slow me down?
Answer from FitBuff.com:
Good question. It sounds like if people are eating more often to lose weight, then you wouldn't want to do it to gain weight, right? BUT, when you eat more smaller meals per day (5-6), like you said, it keeps your metabolism up and running all day. The key here is as your metabolism becomes faster and more efficient, you begin losing "WEIGHT", but more importantly, "losing weight" more specifically refers to "losing FAT".
So, to answer your question, YES, you should definitely eat 5-6 meals per day (I eat about 8-9) even when trying to GAIN muscle. Not only will it help you burn unnecessary fat as mentioned above, but it will provide your body with a constant supply of fuel to feed your growing muscles.
