Though it’s always important, keeping your skin germ-free seems to come into the spotlight at certain times of the year. In the midst of a rather difficult cold and flu season, people are very aware of the necessity to keep germs as far away from their skin as possible.

Though it’s important to ensure that you stay healthy and don’t give into the common and very contagious illnesses, staying germ free can be important for a variety of reasons.

Avoiding illnesses is one thing, but germs can also be potential sources of toxins which can be terrible for your skin and your overall well being. If you don’t put an emphasis on keeping your skin germ-free, you won’t look as good and certainly won’t feel as well either.

So in the interest of your overall well being and health, let’s take a look at how to keep your skin germ-free.

Wash, Wash, Wash

Whether it’s your face or your hands or anything in between, it’s so important to wash your skin. Your skin is a point of contact and that means that whatever you come into contact with, whether it be a potential virus or a toxin, can linger on the skin for an extended period of time.

If you are diligent about washing your skin regularly, then you avoid having any complications. Wash your hands regularly, particularly if you encounter any potential germs or are out in public.

Get into a regular washing ritual for your face and stick to it. Be sure to watch all skin, exposed and unexposed, when you shower or bathe each day. This is the single best way to keep your skin germ free.

Avoid Potentially Harmful Substances

Do your best to stay away from the very things that may contribute to or be full of germs. If you smoke, then quit. If you are exposed to second hand smoke, then find a way to avoid it. If you know that somebody is sick, then try your best to stay away from them. If you are out in public, avoid touching common surfaces or at the very least be sure to wash.

It’s all about managing your risks when it comes to keeping your skin free of germs. So think carefully of the things that you do and how you can improve upon your avoidance of germs in the first place.

Institute Healthy Living

The healthier and cleaner of a life that you live, the less likely you are to encounter germs or at least steer clear of them being an issue on your skin. Eating right, avoiding potentially germy substances or environments, keeping your immune system up—all of these elements are important not only to your overall well being, but to your ability to stay germ-free.

Though you won’t always be able to avoid germs, you will certainly have a better chance of fighting them off if your skin comes into contact with them. Healthy living means you are sick far less often, and that you don’t expose yourself to potentially harmful germs in the first place.

This was great information. I have to take extra special care of my skin because I get tinea versicolor in the summer if I’m not careful.
