Question: How would the intermittent fasting impact attempts to speed up metabolic rate with a 6-8 meal a day plan? Wouldn't the fasting send the wrong message to the body and trigger the starvation response? Or am I trying to combine two things that shouldn't be combined?

I think that fasting is a beneficial experience. For weight loss purposes, though, the approach is a bit strange, don't you think? What is the motivation to eat a "normal" amount of food on the other six days of the week (instead of compensating for the one day of "starvation")? If one is comfortable eating a healthy amount of food, how did they become overweight in the first place?

I've heard and experienced great results both ways, so it's really up to you and whichever time fits best in your schedule. Many people think it's blasphemous to fast on a workout day, but Eat Stop Eat puts many of those myths to rest.

Awesome job, Michael, and I agree 100% that the fast becomes easier and easier each time. It's not even an issue for me at all anymore, and I almost like fasting days even better, because I get so much more done without the constant interrupts of cooking/eating.

I have been fasting for 24 hours once a week for the past 3 weeks. Each time it becomes easier to fast. I also feel that the fasting keeps me focused on portion sizes the rest of the week. I am enjoying the challenge.
