Weekly Recap (June 7-14, 2009)

Mission accomplished! After a gluttonous one-week binge the week before last, I set a new recent record of 13 straight days of 100% whole, clean foods (only exception being sauces: soy, teriyaki, hot, orange, and mustard).

I haven't even had a protein shake in the last two weeks after seeing the mass-protein myth exposed in more than one place.

The idea of needing 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight is so prevalent in most health magazines and websites that I just assumed it was true (never a good idea), but I've been consuming only about 80-120 grams per day, while maintaining and even building muscle.

Massive bodybuilders may need more, but the research suggests that even they don't need the insane amounts that many of them swear by.

I'm going to break my current streak with a eat-out meal tonight while watching the finals, which will sadly be the last NBA game of the season in all likelihood. I like both teams, but I would really like to see a more exciting series, preferably 7 games!

The trick will be turning my Sunday ALL-DAY binges into my Sunday one-big-meal binges without slipping into another one-week bender.

I'm looking forward to it, and if even that one meal derails my results for next week, while keeping everything else consistent, then I'll drop those all together too, but I'm sure that won't be the case.

That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at Geek2Freak.com.
