Weekly Recap (August 17-24, 2008)
Things have never been better!
After completing the first full week of "Maximum Strength" and taking my diet tracking to the next level, my goals seem more in reach than ever.
I was surprised that I seemed to have guessed my daily caloric needs pretty well. I estimated between 3500 and 4000 calories, based on each day's physical activity, and the results are great so far.
Guessed may not be giving enough credit to my man John Berardi, since I did use a relatively complicated formula from Scrawny to Brawny, but, still, it requires a little guess-timation in the process.
I lost nearly an inch in my waist, while maintaining or increasing all of my "good" measurements.
After a week of tracking and measuring every calorie, it's not nearly as tedious as I had imagined.
I bought a simple $4 food scale from Amazon that I keep on the counter, then just throw the chicken and/or veggies on before cooking them. It literally only takes about 10 seconds more than usual.
Plus, I've started precooking a lot of chicken at one time, so I actually spend even less time preparing meals.
My body feels fantastic from the added flexibility and core work from "Maximum Strength." Even after two intense speed camp cardio sessions on top of the weightlifting, I had no pain or discomfort anywhere all week.
It's awesome to get pleasing results, because it inspires me even more to keep things moving in the right direction.
I'm going to stick with the same calorie range for another week, since it's best to reassess every 2 weeks to really get a good idea of its effects.
I can't wait to start Week 2 tomorrow, only 15 left!
That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at Geek2Freak.com.
