Weekly Recap (August 3-10, 2008)

I was relatively pleased with this week's results, since I expected much worse after yesterday's epic 8000-calorie junk/fast food binge!

As expected, my weight ballooned up to nearly 200, though much of that is just actual food weight left over from yesterday, and my waist shot up half an inch due to the same thing.

I definitely felt like crap last night, but I've rebounded nicely already without any after effects, other than some sexy and aromatic digestion issues.

I feel re-motivated to get some of my best results yet, after having had a few aches, pains, and other inconveniences over the last week or two.

The best news is that my calves are completely pain-free today and were so as early as yesterday afternoon, so they finally seem to have adjusted to the new demands of speed camps and sprints that I started a few weeks ago.

Also, I learned my lesson after getting the itchiest grass pox of all time last week, and yesterday, I wore an Under Armour shirt with knee-high socks to protect my skin from the acid grass.

I was willing to wear a bee-keeper's outfit if I had to, but luckily this worked perfectly and looked slightly more sporty.

One of the advantages of my numbers being so inflated today is that it will make next week's results seem even more impressive and dramatic.

This week, I'm starting the Maximum Strength program. My schedule on the new program will be: weightlifting on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, cardio/HIIT on Wednesday and Saturday, and rest on Sunday.

So, for my official prep week, I'm going to do the first week of Maximum Strength, but with low weights and sets on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday to make sure I've got proper form on all the new exercises.

Then, I'll do my "Moving Day" (pre-program tests for comparison upon completion) on Friday.

Also, I think I'm going to go to speed camp on Wednesday this week to make up for my lackluster performance yesterday thanks to the last faint cries of my sore calf.

The Saturday sessions are at 7:30am, which is early, but the Wednesday sessions are at 6:00am!

I'm kind of curious to check out if it's a different crowd and/or exercises on Wednesdays, so if I can actually pull myself out of bed at 5am, then I'll be there!

That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at Geek2Freak.com.
