Weekly Recap (January 20-27)

This was my first week of barbell and weights work since surgery, and it went great! I started off at about 50-75% of all my pre-surgery weights and was relieved to find that they were fairly easy.

My biggest fear was that those percentages were going to feel as hard as my maxes used to feel, but I'd say I'm already at about 80% full strength. I'll slowly increase the weights each week now, until I'm back to my previous maxes, then beyond!

The only setback I'm a little concerned about is once again my TOE! This thing is driving me crazy, and again, I sympathize with any professional athlete who complains about toe problems from now on.

As you may remember, I had an ingrown toenail removed a few weeks ago, which was not very pleasant and kept me off my feet for a couple of weeks. Well, now it seems the problem wasn't completely fixed, because it's starting to feel like it did before I went to the doctor, so I'm thinking maybe they didn't get it all out or properly stop the growth.

It's not exactly painful yet, but it may be headed in that direction, so I'll give it a few more days, and if nothing improves, I'll have to go back in to the podiatrist. At worst, I will have to go through a similar procedure to last time, and it may knock me off lower body work for a couple more weeks, but at least I'll still be able to do upper body stuff. I just can't wait for everything to be back to normal though!

That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at the forums in this thread: Personal Daily Workout Log.
