Weekly Recap (July 13-20, 2008)
Another amazing and eventful week!
This may be my greatest improvement week yet. I gained a little over half a pound, but cut my body fat again, all while increasing every other circumference measurement, except my waist, which stayed exactly the same.
That's the perfect storm I've been hoping for and predicting, and I really feel like I'm starting to get a handle on what works best for my body.
The introduction of sprinting and real-world HIIT has been one of the biggest catalysts, as opposed to the stationary bike routines I was doing before.
There's no substitute for really giving it all you've got, recruiting nearly every muscle in your body to propel yourself across a field.
Plus, the new speed camp I started yesterday is only going to help even more, as I plan on doing that every Saturday.
The other major change, which I'll discuss more in a separate article, is that I've drastically cut carbs, even from fruit.
I used to love apples and bananas, because it was one of the few remaining foods that I really craved, but as soon as I cut them as a test, my body fat has been dropping like never before.
I'm eating over 3,000 calories every day, with nearly 50% of them coming from "good" fats, about 40% from protein, and the vast majority of carbs coming straight from vegetables, which I eat several servings of per day.
Everything is clicking on all cylinders, and I can only see things getting better, as I improve my cardio and HIIT.
Lastly, I reintroduced deadlifts for the first time in over a year, which I'm hoping will help build up my traps.
I figured now was a good time to ease back into them, as I'll be starting a new workout program soon, Eric Cressey's "Maximum Strength."
That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at Geek2Freak.com.
