Eric Cressey's Maximum Strength: Get Your Strongest Body in 16 Weeks with the Ultimate Weight-Training Program
Weekly Recap (September 7-14, 2008)
This week was "Light Load" week, as I wrapped up the first phase of "Maximum Strength."
Don't confuse "Light Load" with "easy" though! The weights were still challenging and the workouts intense, but the term just refers to the overall lower volume of reps and sets.
"Maximum Strength" is split into four 4-week phases, and the end of each phase is "Light Load" to allow the body to actively recover and get ready for the next phase.
So, I'll be starting Phase 2 tomorrow, and I can't wait. I absolutely love everything about this program, from the way it's set up to keep things interesting and exciting to the great results it's produced so far.
As for my measurements today, those went great as well, even though the body fat scale seems to be a little finicky again.
Even though I dropped 4 pounds and a full half-inch from my waist, it said I had actually gained 1 percent body fat!
Not only do I feel leaner, but I look noticeably leaner too, and the smaller waist just confirmed everything, so I've got to chalk the higher body fat number up to the digital scale this week, since it's been known to throw out wacky numbers every once in a while.
The four-pound weight loss was a little more than I would have liked, but it appears to have been nearly all fat, since not only did my strength maintain, but I actually got stronger in every exercise over last week's numbers.
It was probably Tuesday's "two-a-day" that burned a few more calories than I had planned, and I must not have adequately compensated in the kitchen.
All in all, I was extremely pleased with the results this week, and I feel better, stronger, and fitter than ever, so I'm going to keep everything the same this week.
Hopefully, without the mid-week +90-minute speed camp session, I can achieve similar results without another big weight loss.
That about raps it up for this week. See you next Sunday and don't forget you can follow my daily updates over at Geek2Freak.com.
