FitBuff member Silvia Barrett sent in some great pictures of how her husband turned his boring, traditional desk into a performance-enhancing, posture-improving Standing Desk.
My husband had a large L shaped desk that he built a base frame for, to lift the whole thing up to the right height for him to use it standing up. He loved it! It helped a lot with his back problems.
What's all this talk about a standing desk? Click here to follow my initial experience, and why I liked it so much that I set up a permanent standing desk.

I love sitting on my rear end all day @ work. There's no way I'd convert to a standing desk. Sounds like knee problems to me.
Steve, I felt the same way, and even more so the first two days after converting! But after the initial adjustment, I actually prefer standing to sitting down now. It was well worth it in my opinion, and I'm not looking back (or back down).
As for the knee safety, it's important not to lock your knees (this rule applies any time you're standing). That particular issue is discussed in more detail in the original article here:

hehe thanks for the reply. Sounds like I need to try a little experiment with this :)
Go for it! If you can make it past the first 1-3 days, you'll love it, but I almost gave up at first because your body is going to be screaming, "SIT DOWN!"
Just stick it out through that first hump, and your body will adjust and thank you later!
You can test it out any number of ways, like using something as simple as cardboard boxes as show in the video here:

If you do decide to take the plunge (or the stance), I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.
